Hey friends!! This is going to be a sort of bonus blog post since I just got too busy to post last Sundays! This is going to be a “Week-In-My-Life” blog, and I hope y’all are somewhat interested and entertained by what I usually do in a week at college!
I have no classes on Mondays, so I could lay around in bed all day, but that would go against my New Year’s Resolution of waking up early. I got up around 8:30 and went to breakfast at a dining hall with my high school (well, lifelong) bestie, Sarah. After that, I went to Ramsey to train for my half-marathon (LOL more like I ran a few minutes then gave up and found an elliptical). I went back to my dorm to shower, do laundry, study for an art history test, and work on an English paper. My English paper is about Olivia Pope, so, naturally, I had to watch a few episodes of Scandal as well. I had chapter for my sorority that night, and we had Chick-Fil-A for dinner, so that was definitely the highlight. Then I went to the art studio where my 3D Design class is held to work on a plaster project that was due on Tuesday – a friend and I stayed there until almost midnight carving plaster. I never want to work with plaster again. I think my flu symptoms (see Tuesday) are caused by plaster poisoning if that’s even a thing.
Tuesday is a big day of classes, and I had a paper due, a test, and a project due. I woke up today thinking I had the flu – my entire body hurt, I had chills, and a sore throat (possibly from inhaling plaster particles? should I sue?). Death was truly upon me, but after 3 Advils, I felt like a new woman. I was fighting off the flu one Advil at a time! I went to my first three classes, and felt pretty good about my paper and test. Then I headed back to my dorm to finish up my artist’s statement for my plaster critique and do other important things such as watch Monday night’s episode of the Bachelor. My 3D Design class is from 5-7:45PM, so it’s past my bedtime. We had a critique of our plaster projects, and I think my teacher liked my piece. I then went to get dinner with a friend from class and went back to Russell and sat on my futon Googling my symptoms, and discovered that I could possibly have the flu, strep throat, mono, a cold, or anemia! Go figure!
This is a picture of my plaster eye in its 99% complete state.
I didn’t have class again today, so the day was mine for the taking! Carpe diem! I let myself sleep in just in case I really had the flu, but I woke up miraculously better and cured from the plague that I had yesterday. I sat around for a few hours doing absolutely nothing except for make coffee and go down to the mail room to discover that my mom had sent me the CUTEST cookies ever for Valentine’s Day. After deciding that I should still have a productive day, I went to the science library (haha it’s funny because I’m never taking a science class ever again) to do homework and procrastinate more by online shopping. After that, I went to get a bomb quesadilla for lunch and went back to Russell to finish reading for my English class. I had a meeting for my Miracle committee at 6:30 and went to the Catholic Center for their freshman small group program at 8.
3 of my classes got cancelled today, so do I ever really go to class? Am I in college? I can’t remember how to read? My 8 AM class was my only class of the day, so I did get up early and go to class. I then went to get Chick-fil-A for breakfast (blessed be the nugs), and I did some work at UGA’s student center, Tate. I think 6 campus tours passed through while I sat there, and I just want to say hi if any of you are reading this go dawgs this is the best school ever. I went to Ramsey to work out, and grabbed lunch at the dining hall over on east campus (my favorite & the best), and went back to Russell to shower. I had quite an unproductive night, and binge watched The Handmaid’s Tale for like 8 hours.
Again, I had no class today – is college real? I had a leisurely morning, and then went to get lunch with a friend that I hadn’t seen in a while. I was planning on going to work out and do other productive things, but I ended up hanging out with Sarah and her sister who came to visit all afternoon. We went to all the important places – Target, Panera, & Jittery Joe’s – and explored all over Athens. My roommate went home for the weekend, so I had my room all to myself, and I got to enjoy the simple things like listening to music without headphones – you never know what you’ve got until it’s gone. I pretty much just watched TV all night and did some stuff to get ready for my sorority’s formalll on Saturday like self-tan, do my nails (because I was not about to pay $50 at a nail salon), and get my dress, shoes, and jewelry decided on.
Thank you all for reading this daily recap of my week – I hope I didn’t completely bore you and you felt like you were reliving your college days!
